image002.jpg(2)Parking Policy

Parking is permitted on campus only in places designated as parking areas.  Areas where parking is prohibited are clearly marked and violators may be ticketed by local police or towed at their own expense.  All campuses require student/faculty/staff to secure a parking permit from the Facilities and Grounds Department.

Parking Policy for the Disabled: Students, staff and faculty requiring access to College parking for the disabled should come to the Office of the ADA 504 Coordinator at the Saranac Lake campus.  Branch campus personnel and students should contact the Office of Campus & Student Life counselors.  Necessary vehicle information will be recorded and a special parking permit will be issued for the required period of time.  A physician's certification is necessary to verify eligibility for handicapped parking.  The physician's certification should clearly state the nature of the disability and specify the anticipated length of disability.

Children on Campus

As an institution of higher learning, focused primarily on the needs of adult registered students, North Country Community College desires to maintain a collegial atmosphere conducive to learning.  In order to comply with safety and health regulations, the children of guests, students and/or employees of the College and their children are required to comply with the following:

  1. Only registered student may attend credit bearing and non-credit classes.  Some Lifelong Learning children's programs may require the presence of a parent or guardian;
  2. All minors under the age of 18 attending any sanctioned activity deemed appropriate for children, present in any College venue, must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times;
  3. Employees of the College are prohibited from bringing children to offices and other areas where day-to-day business of the College is conducted.  This includes work-study employees acting in the performance of their duties.

The College recognizes that childcare is an important issue in the lives of its guests, students and employees.  Parent and guardians are encouraged to seek reference information for appropriate childcare from the Director of Campus and Student Life at 1-888-TRY-NCCC, etc.204.

Health Services

North Country Community College does not maintain an on-campus health-service staff.  Students who encounter medical problems must seek assistance by contacting local medical professionals or their family physician.  The College provides a Health Referral Information Form that lists all local physicians.

In case of accident, all full-time students are covered under the College's mandatory accident insurance program.  Optional insurance coverage for illness is available at an additional cost.  Students using a private physician service should be prepared to satisfy their financial obligations to the physician by cash or through individual or family health insurance programs.

Special Accommodations Program

North Country Community College offers services that provide support and assistance to students with disabilities during their college career.  The ADA 504 Coordinator is responsible for assisting disabled students in identifying their needs and arranging for reasonable accommodations through college services and governmental/community agencies.  Services and equipment available are tutoring, adaptive equipment, individualized learning strategies and personal and career counseling.  Questions should be directed to Ms. Cammy Sheridan, ADA 504 Coordinator at 518-891-2915.

Cancellation of Classes

Cancellation of classes due to severe weather is rare.  Each student must decide whether the conditions are safe to drive to and from the College.  If a student decides not to attend classes due to inclement weather, it is the student's responsibility to contact the faculty member to make up all missed work.
