About Us - NCCC Association - Residence Halls
The Association offers three residence halls housing 96 students in a safe, clean and convenient location adjacent to the NCCC campus.
Each student has a furnished private bedroom, which is one of four bedrooms in a suite. Each suite has four bedrooms, a gallery kitchen area equipped with a microwave and a small refrigerator. Each suite has its own bathroom. Each bedroom and the living room of each suite are wired for cable television, for telephone services, and for data connection for computers.
Each residence hall has two sides, with four suites on each side. Suites are composed of men or women.
Essex and Franklin Halls were constructed for Fall 1998, and High Peaks Hall opened Fall 2000. The campus is smoke free and substance free. Students are required to abide by village, state and federal laws.
Saints Hall houses a live-in-staff member as well as the Residence Hall office, a television/game room, a /meeting room, and a coin operated laundry facility. Hours are 7:00am to midnight.
The primary entrance to each building is locked as is the main entrance to each suite. Each bedroom is locked as well. Smoke detectors are in each room and the complex is monitored with an alarm system. The campus is also patrolled at night.
The Residence Halls are located adjacent to the NCCC campus, next to the Athletic fields and Athletic Facility. The Residence Halls are a very short walk from the classroom buildings, the library, and the food service.
Roommate selection: Each student completes a profile questionnaire which enables students of compatible interests and/or habits to be grouped by suite. Students can mutually request specific suitemates as well.
Housekeeping: Student are required to clean their suites and to remove trash to a nearby dumpster.
Meal Plan: Each Resident is required to participate in a full meal plan. This meal plan includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, a brunch and dinner are served to students. Meals are provided in the Connector, which joins the Science and Classroom buildings.
The Residence Hall contract is for a full academic year. Students are welcomed to return for subsequent semesters. The rates are for one semester for the current year.
Room and meal plan:
The rate for each semester will depend on which meal plan you would like (meal plan provides a set amount of food for each meal) .
- Meals mid week only (15 plan -no meal sat and sun): $8300.00/year for lodging and meal plan ($4150.00/semester).
- Meals all week (19 plan–3 meal mon-fri., 2 meals sat-sun): $8500.00/year for lodging and meal ($4250.00/semester).
Prices are subject to change. You are responsible for the payment of both semesters (1 full academic year). The Association accepts payment directly from the student and/or family by cash, check, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, or Discover). A three or four installment payment plan may be arranged.
If a student is eligible for financial aid, the Association is willing to defer payment until receipt of the financial aid. Students planning to use financial aid funds must sign an authorization form permitting the Association access to the aid and information. Each student must supply a Financial Aid Award letter that shows the final aid options exercised by the student. Work study funds are paid on a biweekly basis directly to the student and therefore can not be applied to the residence hall or meal plan payments. Students can not use their financial aid to pay for the room reservation fee or the damage and key deposits.
Users of financial aid must be aware that the use of the room and participation in the meal plan are contingent upon receipt of adequate financial aid. The Financial Aid Award with the selected funds is the basis for the reservation. Changing a selection after the reservation is secured will affect the total aid awarded. The student and/or cosigner will be responsible to directly pay any unmet amount. Student course load, attendance, and conduct may affect the final awarded amount of financial aid.
Loans: Students and/or cosigner is responsible for completing in a timely fashion all loan information. During the semester the student must check with the NCCC Financial Aid office (518-891-2915 x 687) and the NCCC Business Office (518-891-2915 x. 688) to ensure that applications are complete and that the award is made.
Cosigning is required for the housing and meal plan contracts. The Association is willing to defer its payment but must have a guarantee should there be any change in the student’s financial aid status. Any amounts owed by a student must be paid by the 7th week of the semester.
How do I reserve a room?
Each semester, a student must apply for a room on a first come, first served basis by completing a housing and meal plan contract. For the fall semester, housing is filled by May, so early application is recommended. A waiting list will be maintained.
A nonrefundable $500.00 fee is required to complete the reservation. This can not be paid out of financial aid. The $500.00 is reduced from the semester's housing bill.
This process is separate from the application to NCCC. Checking the housing box on a NCCC application does not secure a room reservation.
